The final SFB internal meeting

From 2 to 5 December 2025, members and guests of the SFB Tomography across the scales met at the Obergurgl Centre in Tyrol, Austria. Researchers from pure and applied mathematics, physics, biology and medicine came together to discuss imaging and inverse problems related to tomography.

The inspiring mountain setting allowed for an enjoyable meeting with plenty of opportunities for intense scientific exchange and informal conversations. Alongside the PIs and the SFB members, we were glad to be joined by former SFB members as well as external international speakers. We look forward to the final SFB conference in Vienna – stay tuned!

Third internal meeting is finished! Report and pictures

The Third Internal Meeting of the SFB Project “Tomography Across the Scales” took place in Obergurgl (Tirol) from December 1 to 5, 2019. More than 30 researchers participated giving interesting talks and with their fruitful discussions helped the members of the SFB to continue their research in the right direction. Along with the 3rd meeting we had the PI and member meetings where we discussed the progress of the common projects and the organization of the future events. The first SFB meeting was a success!

In the Obergurgl University Center, the initial SFB “Tomography across the scales” meeting took place, on March, 18-20.  It was attended by the Principal investigators, members, external associated researchers and candidates. The participants had the opportunity, for the first time, to meet all members and interact with people from different disciplines. The talks were interesting covering all “scales”, from mathematics and physics to medical- and bio-sciences.

Everyone is looking forward to the next meeting at the end of the year!

Workshop “Inverse Problems in the Alps II”

Then, on March, 21-23, followed the more mathematical oriented workshop “Inverse Problems in the Alps II” co-organized by the SFB, the RICAM and the Doctoral Program “Computational Mathematics”. More than 30 participants enjoyed the talks in this wonderful location. This workshop celebrated also the 60th birthday (\(\varepsilon\) far) of Elena Beretta,  Politecnico di Milano, Italy!
